About Me

Alanya Turkey - April 2004

Thank you for visiting my e-portfolio!

This site contains: my resume, letters of recommendation, teaching philosophy, certifications, samples, research work, coursework, and professional memberships.

The combination of my academic course work and professional experience, combined with my teaching and tutoring skills have provided me with a diverse background that promotes experiential instruction. I currently hold my State of Florida Department of Education “Official Statement of Eligibility” for Social Science, grades 6-12; and, June 2012, I passed my FCTE General Knowledge Exam. I graduated with my Masters of Education in April 2012, and most recently completed additional coursework in the social sciences.

I posses exceedingly strong communication and computer skills in Microsoft products including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Outlook; and, have experience with online education software such as: Canvas, Focus, APEX, BlackBoard, Elluminate, Angel, Aleks and Moodle.

I have had excellent opportunities to teach, volunteer and privately instruct at numerous grade levels; and have worked with a variety of learning levels including IEP and 504 students at the K-12 level, and students with disabilities at the college level. I have had the pleasure of working as a teaching mentor for ABE/GED students as well. I excel at developing differentiated instruction, strategic planning, course and learning materials, and evaluation through designing assessments, both formative and summative.

Since 2014 I have taught the following courses at the high school level:

  • Advanced Placement Human Geography
  • Advanced Placement US History
  • US History Honors
  • Humanities
  • World Cultural Geography
  • World History Honors

Among the most satisfying experiences for me as a teacher has been the ability to teach students-centered instruction where I was able to assess prior experience and build the instructional strategies to strengthen their connection to the content. I look forward to working with the students, both on the individual and cumulative basis, to maximize their learning potential; and further, to deliver the content in ways that promoted long-term learning, deepen critical thinking skills and increased student engagement.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Warmest Regards,

Milisa A. Sammaciccia Ismail, MEd.
